Gabriel and Jesus

Last night in bed Gabriel kept whining and didn't want us to leave the room because he was a little bit scared. See we have these pull up and down shades for the windows and twice the one in Gabriel's room has flown up, once at night and once during his nap time. He's been a little afraid of it ever since. So I'm with him in his bed and I explain to him that he doesn't need to be afraid because Jesus is always with him and if he's scared he just needs to talk to Jesus. It calmed him down and he fell asleep. He also slept through the night which is something that he has not been doing lately.

So today Gabriel, Eli and I were all playing in Gabe's bedroom and Gabriel starts talking about how 'Jesus in bed'. I explain that yes, Jesus was in the bed with him last night and explained how Jesus is always with us no matter where we are. Then I had him touch his heart and told him that Jesus is in his heart. He gives me a slightly confused look...

"Jesus in heart?" He asked.
"Yes Gabriel," I said, "Jesus is in your heart."
Gabriel's got his thinking look on, "Jesus heart. (which means 'ok, Jesus is in my heart') Gabriel got Jesus!"
"Yep babe! You got Jesus!"
Then Gabriel goes into his tent and pulls out the teddy bear that he has named after his Daddy. "Daddy got Jesus?"
"Yes, Daddy has Jesus too."
He pulls out the teddy bear he has named after me. "Mama got Jesus?"
"Yep! Mama has Jesus too!"
Then he disappears into his tent again and starts pulling out all his animals and with every one that came out he would go on that "Elephant got Jesus, an' panda got Jesus, an' sunflower got Jesus, an' Eli tiger got Jesus, an' Gabriel tiger got Jesus, an'...." All of his stuffed animals got Jesus apparently :)

Then later we are in the living room and Gabriel is underneath the desk and he's hitting the wall with a toy while trying to sing 'Jesus loves me' and after telling him not to hit the wall a couple of times (and him not listening) he comes out. "Mama, Jesus make owie."
Me: "What babe?"
Gabe: "Jesus make owie (on) wall."
I look under the desk to see a mark on the wall from him hitting his toy against it. "Babe, Jesus didn't make the owie on the wall, you made the owie on the wall from hitting your toy against it and Mama told you not to do that."
Gabriel looks at me for a moment, then squints his eyes for a second... "No. Jesus make owie."

He hasn't quite gotten yet that Jesus doesn't like lying :)
